Dublin to Drummond Mahon Family 200th Reunion

August 17 – 18, Perth, Ontario

Schedule of Events Saturday, August 17, Civitan Hall

Registration Opens: 10 AM

Meet and greet activities throughout the day to discover your families. View descendants memorabilia as everyone is invited to bring a photo, story, tool, utensil for display. Attach a note to the item including its lineage.


Self-guided tour with map of historical family landmarks: 10 AM - 3 PM

If you don't have time Saturday the map will be included in the registration package and may be explored at your leisure.


Blessing of James and Ellen Mahon’s grave sites - Old Burying Ground with Father McNally officiating: 2 PM

Along with James and Ellen Mahon, Betsey Towriss, first wife of Thomas Mahon (son of James and Ellen) and a son, Thomas; and Patrick Harrington, first husband of Ellen Mahon (daughter of James and Ellen) are also buried there.


Children’s Activities of Celtic knots, Irish dancing, games: 3 - 6 PM

Designed to celebrate our Irish heritage family members from 2 - 102 are invited to join in. Learn how to tie a Celtic knot that you may wear or take home; for those more agile learned instructors will be giving lessons in Irish dancing. There are also friendly games planned to take place on the Hall grounds.


The Dooley’s and history of the Irish in Canada, Irish story telling with music: 3 - 5 PM

We are excited to have Mr. Kevin Dooley, novelist, musician and historian joining us. Mr. Dooley spear-headed to have Irish workers recognized in their building of the Rideau Canal.


Family Group Pictures: 4 - 6 PM

As with all family reunions there will be official family group photographs taken. If you wish to be included you must be at the Hall by 4 PM.


Dinner- Buffet style: 6 PM

The Civitan Club is catering the meal. Menu to be posted at a later date.


Presentation of Family Tree: 7 - 8 PM

Music and Dance: 8 PM – Midnight

Our entertainers will be finalised in the weeks to come.

Schedule of Events, Sunday, August 18

Mass: 11 AM St John’s Church, Perth - Memorial Mass for deceased family members

St. John's Roman Catholic Church is located in the town of Perth. Directions will be included in the registration package.


Brunch/Lunch: 11 AM/12 PM - at the Royal Canadian Legion, Perth

The Ladies Auxilliary will be catering the brunch/lunch at Perth-Upon-Tay Branch 244 located along the Tay River in Perth. Directions will be included in the registration package.


Time to say our fare thee wells, safe home, and share memories.

Self-guided tour may be continued as you wish.

Other events are pending.

Mahon's are very musical so if you play an instrument, sing or dance and wish to show your skills, we welcome you to do so. This is OUR reunion and our wish is to make it one you will never forget.
