Wanda thanked all for attending and spoke about the present committee and the reasons for the reunion.
Cheryl R., distributed lineage charts she and Lauri have worked together to create. She also spoke about the research they have completed over the years to grow the Family Tree.
Cheryl M., explained the social media presence (website and FB group/page).
The seven set committees are Registration, Finance, Family Tree, Events/Activities/Entertainment, Social Media/Communication (includes Website), Catering/Decorating, Photos/Memorabilia. Sign up forms were distributed and we were happy to see volunteers signing up.
A round table discussion took place with many great suggestions from attendees.
Points: A formal presentation on the history of the First Family. Pamphlets available in tourist booths. Registrants / visitors to the website should state their family connection. Registration page on the website for people to submit questions and to receive updates and newsletters. Once the finance committee is set we will encourage families attending to use that format. Is it possible to arrange registration on the Friday night? A local artist was recommended to create the self driving tour and t-shirt logo (contact and cost have been received). That tour should be available before Saturday and be suitable for framing. The Family Tree will be available electronically (PDF format) and on a DVD. Should there be Pioneer presentations focusing on their occupations such as farmers, stonemasons, loggers? Add area campgrounds to the accommodation list and should local hotels be approached to offer discounts.
Goals moving forward are to spread the news, via FB, press releases, flyers, etc.; we need volunteers to work on the various committees; finalize the responsibilities of each committee; set date of next meeting.
