A descendant of James and Mary commented on the FB page about her beautiful view of Mahon Mountain. Glasses were cleaned and the comment was re-read. Eh? Wot? Get outta here! Were a few of the comments this writer exclaimed.
Research was immediately begun and though any reason or history has yet to be found a map was. Requests of information have been made to various groups and we'll update when we know. Also listed is a Mahon Swamp but really, go big or go home, so we'll stick with the Mountain.

There seems to be a thread with our family and mining. John had rights to a mica mine on the Rideau. Wanda gave us a remarkable photo of the mine and miners that were posted. Thank you Brenda!
I was aware of the book Brenda but it was only on computer about five years ago when my sister-in-law Claire Mahon and my niece, Cheryl MacDonell met with Dave at the museum. I realized today that this idea of a reunion really started more than 5 years ago when my sister, Cathy Quinn, who just died in March, and I went to Brudenell Cemetery and met Margaret Wajda and Elaine Brown not realizing that we were each Mahon sisters until we introduced ourselves and then we went to Combermere and sat by the water and talked family. Cathy, Cheryl and I visited Margaret last year in Combermere and had lunch with her. I would love to see the book…
The James Mahon Family book was purchased from Dave Kelley at the Mission House Museum and Gallery back in 2006. Dave was doing research on some of the early settlers to the area, and myself and others helped supply information and pictures of family members. Dave did a lot of research and prepared and collated the book himself. I don’t know if the book is still available from the Mission House Museum in Combermere as I haven’t been in there in years. The Mission House contains lots of historical information from the early years. My husband and I relocated here in Combermere last Fall to look after my elderly parents. I can bring it in August for your perusal.
